And the results are in!

I am now getting around to taking some photos from the firing this week.

I am happy with these flower & leaf carved bowls. Only two got into this firing, but there are more on the way. We had some really nice reduction this go around. The shinos are lookin' lovely.

This baker was a re-fire. It is one of two. When it came out of the first firing, the turquoise was almost black. The shino on the interior had some crawling near the seam. A little additional glaze corrected that problem. As for the turquoise, it's not exactly the color I like but it looks much better. I re-fired another one and it has also been saved from the seconds shelf. Sometimes there is hope for re-fires!

The gloss greens were looking really good on everything.

About half of the wall pockets were fired and they are already in the Etsy shop. Clicking on the photo will take you to the listings.

  2. thanks Tracey! The turquoise is one of Jeff's glazes. Bowls and mugs in that combo sell like crazy.

  3. congrats on the refires, they look great, love the combo of the green exterior and shino interior, the turquoise looks green on my monitor, wonder if my monitor is off a bit?

  4. Thanks Linda, the turquoise is green but it's a little different shade than when it is once fired... acceptable, just a little different. Anyone who doesn't know the glaze would think it's just fine.

  5. Interesting that you refired the black Turquoise and it turned out better. I have a Laura's Turquoise that frequently goes black and I've been extremely frustrated with it. Hadn't considered refiring. Will need to give that a try. Thanks.

  6. I've often told students that you can't lose a pot that's already lost so why not try to re-fire it. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's still lost. I'm glad these worked out so well for you. They all look great.

  9. Awesome work! I've been contemplating making some of those wall pockets, just don't know if they will sell. On the other hand, I've never seen any here so they might sell great!
