The Joys of Moving...

We have been eating out of the same few plates and bowls for weeks now. As I unpack boxes we are reconnecting with pots that haven't been used for some time, many haven't graced the dining table in years. The bowl in the photo is from Cornish Hill Pottery in Wolfeboro, NH. It was my go-to cereal bowl for years. Unpacking it inspired me to buy some Cheerios for breakfast! The mug is a long standing favorite made by Jeff Dean, here in Seagrove.

While in the midst of this move, I have decided to head to New Hampshire at the end of the month and help out with my Dad. My sister made plans months ago to visit my brother and his wife in Alaska. I don't want her to cancel this trip. Dad will still be in a rehab facility but we both will feel more comfortable if someone can visit with him everyday. Last year she had scheduled a trip to Ireland and had to cancel because of my mother's illness and subsequent passing. My sister deserves a vacation! It's not a great time for me to pack up and leave, but family is important. It will all work out in the end.

Next post should be photos of our completed kitchen... we are so excited!

  1. Unpacking can be fun when you discover items you forgot you had, we have had that experience many times. Ha. It will be good for you to go to NH and see your dad; and at least the mud season is over.

    1. I am not looking forward to changing it, but will have to. The last time I tried, blogger wouldn't let me add another large photo. The funny thing is that the flowering vine around the mailbox died this winter. I guess it knew we were leaving.

    2. I think plants know, if you look at your old large photo and see the pixel dimensions and make the new one that same size it may let you. I don't relish changing anything on my blog either, it is a pain in the neck

    3. I wish it were that simple. The last time I tried, blogger said I was at my maximum limit for photos that size. I suppose now that I am moving, I won't be sad to delete this one from the system. Photo rules may have changed in the past few years too... one can only hope!

  4. Isn't it fun to move and find old friends in boxes? It's a great way to make your new digs your "home." Enjoy your trip to visit your dad.

  6. I remember our move here, too, 9 years ago, 2 plates, bowls, mugs for awhile and the only thing on the menu was pita pizzas!
