Bead - Mania

Last Saturday I was invited by my friend Bonnie to join her, and a couple of other women, at a bead show in Durham, NC. It was a first time experience for me and while I occasionally make my own beads and pendants, I do sometimes purchase accent beads to go along with them. It wasn't a huge show but there was lots of bling! While I do love me some sparkle, I was drawn to the two vendors that did handmade. The ribbons were made by a woman who also does clay pendants. While I am not sure if she dyes her own silk ribbon, her husband did tell me she cuts and sews the batik print fabric.
I purchased the green pendant from a guy who had all sorts of soldered clay and glass. They were very interesting with a gritty, industrial look to them. He told me he has a potter that makes the clay pieces for him to solder. I plan to string it on one of the batik fabric ribbons and keep it for myself. Now I need to dig out my boxes of raku beads and get to work on creating necklaces. I am still hoping that at some point we will have time to do some more raku firing.

On the wellness front...
I am super happy that I have lost 32.6 pounds! That .6 is important to note. Sort of like when you were a kid and had to tell people who asked your age that you were 5 1/2. I am now at the clothes quandary. I am fine with baggy tops but now have pants that are a little ridiculous. I found one pair of jeans in my closet that fit great. I purchased another pair for $15 at Old Navy. I have decided that I will wear a lot of leggings and long tops until I can do some more shopping in my own closet. I am still walking most every day and streaming a yoga video on Amazon Prime a few days a week. It's great to not struggle to get up off of the floor anymore! It's the little things in life that count.

Tea Time

I have never been much of a tea drinker. Occasionally Jeff makes us matcha in the afternoon and while at first I didn't care for it at all (tastes like grass clippings!) I have grown to enjoy the ritual of it.

Since starting my wellness path I have begun to drink a cup of herbal tea in the early evening. It helps with water intake and it's healthier than having a glass of wine! I am enjoying having a variety of flavors to choose from, but I am also enjoying choosing the cup of the day. Some days I am drawn to a traditional mug with a handle, on others a cup or tea bowl.  It's been the perfect transition time between the work day and meal prep.
