 I really like to use small shallow bowls. They are so versatile, small salad, ice cream, yogurt and berries...

This weekend I decided to make some and carve them up with the ginkgo leaves. I see sprayed ash glaze in their future...

Holiday Open House Weekend in Seagrove

Put on your flip-flops and head to Seagrove, NC this weekend. Temps are predicted to be in the 70's and lots of pottery shops are celebrating the season with a Holiday Open House. Listings for all the events can be found on the Seagrove Potters facebook page. Be sure to "Like" it while you are there.

Jeff and I will be serving blueberry bars and homemade brownies, along with hot coffee... perhaps I should rethink that and make it ice coffee! Jeff has some really nice wood fired tea pots and tea ware in the shop, along with the Gong Fu Tea Set in the photo above.

The piggy banks have been flying out of here this month, even the ones that didn't have wings. Out of the kiln this week came these two sweet piggies that weren't spoken for. I am sure they will find new homes by the end of the weekend.

Seagrove Potters Celebration of Spring Studio Tour & Kiln Opening

The Celebration of Spring Studio Tour is my favorite event of the year. The countryside has sprung back to life, the grass is green, the trees are leafing out, and lots of flowers are blooming. It seems that no matter what the weather, there is a good turnout for this event.

Along with our "standards" from the gas kiln, we will have lots of new wood fired pots in the gallery.

If you are a tea or sake lover, Jeff has some real beauties from the last two wood firings.

There are 40+ potters on the tour this year. Many will offer demonstrations, refreshments, and door prizes. I will be working on carving a large ginkgo leaf bowl, and I am thinking Jeff will throw something big on Saturday afternoon. We have tour maps available in our gallery. Round up your friends and family and make Seagrove your destination this weekend!
