Happy Easter!
What is more cheery than a big bowl filled with Easter eggs and CANDY?
I needed something to lift my spirits. So what did I do? Like a crazy woman, I went to Walmart (of all places) at 5:00 pm on the Saturday before Easter.
The place was a zoo.
But I accomplished my mission fairly quickly and came home with Easter goodies and eggs to dye. Even bought a bag of that tacky plastic grass... in pink because it goes nicely with the Natalie Blake bowl. Are you familiar with Natalie Blake's work? This bowl is good example of how an artist's work evolves. She now is primarily a tile maker, and a damn good one! Check out her work here.
I hope you all spend this Easter Sunday doing exactly what you want to do.

Happy Easter Weekend
The weather is getting warmer and my grumpy fog has lifted. I haven't gotten back to work in the studio but I did spend some time photographing pots and adding new items to the Etsy shop.
I made this little wall pillow tile/thing or whatever from porcelain. After it was bisqued, I brushed it with black underglaze, wiped it off and glazed it in gloss green.
If you are celebrating Easter, I wish you a happy one. Jeff and I are taking it easy today and moving slowly. I may get my hands in some clay this afternoon, I think it's about time.

There is a little hole for hanging on the back. Of course the back is nicer than the front, isn't that always the way?! I am going to start using the underglaze on some larger porcelain pieces, now that I know what it looks like. Jeff asked me the other day if I was going all black and white on him. Maybe black and white with a little green mixed in!

Thank You Easter Bunny!
HAPPY EASTER!
Bowl by Natalie Blake
I am not sure why, but for some reason, over the past year, I have been getting into the holiday thing. This week I decided I wanted to color eggs. I didn't want to be overloaded with hard boiled eggs, so I made the decision to blow some of them out to make an omelette for brunch yesterday. Good ol' Martha Stewart suggested using an ear syringe to do the job... much easier than blowing them by mouth! I also used the liquid wax from the studio to do some wax resist. After the eggs are dry, place them in the oven, preheated to 250 degrees, for just a few minutes, until the wax gets glossy. Take them out and wipe them down with a paper towel. What was left of the wax created a nice smooth surface on the eggs. If I pack the blown out ones carefully, I can save them for next year. I used to do this when Danielle was little and had quite a collection until Sophie the kitten came to live with us... the first Easter she batted every egg out of a basket and that was the end of them.
She is now 10 years old and has better manners.
Most of the time.
